THE CHARITY SHEILD
Mr president Mike Wright rounded off a great year by winning the charity sheild on a card playoff from Aiden O'Sullivan both on 43 points Jonathon booth took 3rd also on a card playoff from Andy Timmins both on 42 points The Charity sheild is unlike all the other majors as it can be won on a card playoff as there is no board
July Midweek Medal
Matt Wragg won the July midweek medal with 80 - 17 = 64 in 2nd on a card play off was Alan Fish on 81 -13 = 68 followed by Adam Rhodes in 3rd with 87 - 19 = 68 Paul Smallwood & Peter Zaderoshnyj both on 68 just missing out
PRESIDENTS WEEKEND ROUND 1
In very tough morning conditions Steve Smith shot a great score of 70 gross less 4 = 66 to win the first round of Mike Wrights Presidents weekend Rob Potter competing for the junior prize came second with 74 - 6 = 68 closley followed by three players on 69 Ken Ibbotson Guy Thompson & Shaun Clarke
Round 2 saw some good scoring but it was Guy thompson who became the overall winner with a 69 + 67 = 136 Just missing out in 2nd place was Shaun Clarke with 69 + 68 = 137 followed by Steve Smith in 3rd who couldnt repeat his first day score but finnished with 66 + 71 = 137 Mike Robinson was 4th & Tony Jacobs 5th both on 138
Sundays winner was Mike Holtom with the lowest gross 68 - 4 = 64 in 2nd was Chris Taylor 73 - 7 = 66 & 3rd was Wayne Allan with 81 - 14 = 67
The July Medal
There was some good scoring in the July medal Andy Clough took the honours with a net 62 as the overall winner and Division 1 from Neil Obrian 71 - 6 = 65 and James McCormick 71 - 5 = 66 both sharing the lowest gross. Division 2 was won by Ash Hatton 77 - 14 = 63 followed by Pete Crosby 79 -12 = 67 and John Stockley 80 -12 = 68. Division 3 was won by John Hagan 85 - 20 = 65 Jonathon Booth 92 - 24 = 68 and Adam Rhodes 88 - 19 = 69
The ISRAEL SIDEBOTTOM Trophy
Steve Missel came in with a fantastic score in the Israel sidebottem trophy, Steve off a 14 handicap shot a gross 77 net 63 to win by 3 clear shots from Garry Bingham 66 on a card play off with Adam Worsley who shot the lowest gross 68, Matt Hill & Phil Housley also on 66 on what was a good scoring day
The June Midweek Medal
The June midweek medal was won by Matt Hill with a net 68 on a card play off from Pete holland followed by John Potter who managed to beat son Rob by 2 shots!!!!
CAPTAINS DAY 14TH JUNE 2008
Chris Hurst won John Aitchisons captains day with a fantastic score of 66 two clear of the field, on what was a windy day the scores were not very low, only 10 players finishing under par out of nearly 200, there was three players on 68 Steve Misell was 2nd after a card playoff 3rd was Brian Beswick and Dave Bradbury finished in 4th, Tony Collinson continued his good form picking up the lowest gross prize with a 70
The June Medal Saturday 7th June
With a nett 65 the June medal was won by 4 handicapper Mike Holtom on a card play off from Tony Collinson who had the lowest gross 67 - 2 = 65 which takes Tony back down to 1 handicap! Division 2 was won by Bruce Mellor with 81 - 14 = 67 again on a card play off from Aurthur Huntstone 82 - 15 = 67 Division 3 was won by Dan Bradury with 86 - 20 = 66 in 2nd was Matt Lockett with 91 - 22 = 69
The SERVICES TROPHY Saturday 31st May
Mike Holtom and Ross Jonhson retained the services trophy with exactly the same score as last year, 48 points, Mike off 4 handicap and Ross off 6 handicap had a superb day out! the nearest to them was Tony Collinson and Pete Yarwood on 46 points
CAPTAINS EVENING Wednesday 28th May
On a very wet wednesday afternoon Captains evening was won by the last person out, 22 handicapper John Stuart shooting a massive 44 points followed by Garry Bingham on 42 points and Dave Codd on 40 points
The SATTERTHWAITE SPRING CUP Saturday 25th May
In gale force windy conditions the satterthwaite cup was won by Matt Oxley, the 10 handicapper recorded 42 points in extreme conditions,Ian Shuttleworth 39 points and Steve Walmsley 39 points were the closest to him on what was a very difficult day, seeing the Standard Sratch go up to 71 tells the story, Matt who is now down to 7 is hoping to make catagory 1 before the end of the season
The May Medal Saturday 10th May
Andy Lee was the overall winner of the May medal with a score of 80 - 17 = 63 taking division 2 from Dave Codd, Division 1 was won by Mike holtom with 69 - 5 = 64 clear winner over Tom Booth with 76 - 9 = 67 while division 3 was won by Adam Rhodes with 86 - 22 = 64 closley followed by Matt Locket with 91 - 25 = 66
May Midweek Medal Wednesday 10th May
The first mid-week medal of the season was won by Jim Bull with 78 - 9 = 69 the only player on the day under par closley followed by Chris taylor 77 - 7 = 70 and Aiden O'sullivan 81 - 11 =70
THE SPRING MEETING Saturday 26th April
The Spring Meeting was won by promising junior Rob Potter, following on from his good score last week in the April medal, the 9 handicapper produced a fine display in the bogey competition finishing 5up ahead of Neil O'brian on 4up and Mike Robinson on 3up. Rob is one of several Disley juniors who has been involved in Cheshire coaching system, now down to 8 handicap and with a general play reduction likely, the County will be keeping a close eye on Rob
April Medal Saturday 19th
Steve Nightingale was the overall winner of the April medal with a great score in very windy conditions with 81 - 13 = 68 One of the only two players to break par on the day, the other being Disley legend Al Resnick with 81 - 12 = 69 Division 1 was won by Tony Jacobs with 79 - 7 = 72 followed by young Rob Potter with 81 -9 =72 after count-back and division 3 was won by Ken Lewis with 94 - 22 = 72 followed by Tony Wareham with 91 - 18 = 73 All good scores in what can only be described as horrendous conditions on the Disley hills
